Obituary of Juan Aguilar Cornejo

Juan Aguilar Cornejo, 81, of Essexville, our hardworking husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend was born into eternal life on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at McLaren Bay Region. Juan was born in San Antonio, Texas on May 16, 1938, the son of the late Miguel and Angela (Aguilar) Cornejo. He attended Bay City Central and went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Army. While at a friend’s house, he met the former Maria Alicia “Mary Alice” Padilla. They were united in marriage on November 14, 1964, in St. Joseph’s Church. Juan retired from General Motors – Powertrain and enjoyed dancing, golfing, bowling, volunteering, and was an avid woodcarver. Those who knew Juan will forever remember him and his signature little red truck. Juan is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Mary Alice, and their children: Miguel P. Cornejo, Martin A. Cornejo (Michelle Aho), and Lisa Marie Cornejo; grandchildren, Christina Cornejo, Alyssa Cornejo, James (Morgan) Cornejo, Amanda Cornejo, Rachel Quade, Adam Quade, Michael (Alexandra) Proffitt, and Julicia Booker; great-grandchildren, Crew, Ruby James, Isaih, Isaac, and Abel; siblings, Arturo (Sue) Cornejo, Irene Velazquez, Pete Cornejo, Robert Cornejo, George (Patricia) Cornejo, and Petra “Patsy” Perez, along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Juan was predeceased by his brother, Mario Cornejo, and brother-in-law, Rosendo Velazquez. Juan's family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, August 15, 2019, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Vigil at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. On Friday, August 16, 2019, Juan will be taken to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church.) 614 Pine St., Essexville, where visiting will continue from 9:00 AM until the time of his 10:00 AM Funeral Liturgy. Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate with the Rite of Committal to follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family.
