Obituary of Earl Emil Selle

Earl Emil Selle, 86, of Bay City, our loving, funny, artistic, and most generous husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend passed away on August 6, 2019 at McLaren Bay Region. Earl was born on January 14, 1933 in Standish, the son of the late Emil and Janet (Anderson) Selle. Earl graduated from Pinconning High School and then went on to join the Air Force. He served our country proudly for fourteen years, through the Korean War, and attained the rank of sergeant. Following his service in the Air Force, Earl was a devoted and hardworking businessman. He was the founder and owner of Lost Valley Campgrounds. In 1993, Earl met the former Yvette Beebe at the very campground he founded. They dated, fell in love, and were married in Branson, Missouri on December 14, 1993.  Earl enjoyed wood carving, golfing, and above all, spending time with his family, especially his dog, Lola. Those who knew Earl will also remember his love of John Deere, which came from long childhood hours helping his father on their family farm. Earl was a member of the VFW and The Elk’s; he will be deeply missed, yet lovingly remembered for generations to come. Earl leaves to carry on his legacy, his wife of 26 years, Yvette Marie Selle; his five children, Reva (Mike) Spoon, Tina Sanford, Diane (Kendall) Roth, Dale Selle, Paula (Ken) Suchodolski; grandchildren, Ricky (Melissa) Nelson, Melissa (Kelly) Lathery, Alex (Lisa) Roth, Shawn (Heather) Selle,  Tiffany (Brian) Petty, Haley Suchodolski, Janelle (Matt) Felan, Jennifer Plarske, Kevin Suchodolski, Sara Suchodolski, Brad Rigg, 23 great-grandchildren; sisters, Inez (Robert) Ruzala, and Joyce (Jerry) Wachowaik, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Earl was welcomed home to heaven by his siblings, Lloyd Selle, Iva McKeon, and grandson, Joshua Nelson. Earl’s family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, August 9, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp.
