Obituary of Hugh Butch Allin
Hugh Butch Allin, 78, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Deckerville and Bay City, our loving, giving, gregarious, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2019, with his family by his side. Butch was born on August 31, 1940 in Detroit, the son of the late Hugh Woolman Allin and Laura (Davis) Allin. Butch graduated from Deckerville High School in 1958 and went on to answer the call of his country, serving in the U.S. Army for two years. Butch attended mortuary school in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and worked as a licensed funeral director prior to becoming a registered nurse. In addition to working as a mortician and registered nurse, Butch held over 84 jobs, he was a small business owner, the Mayor of Deckerville, milk man, farmer, school bus driver, truck driver, and handy man – always willing to help others. On October 11, 1998, Butch married the love of his life, the former Christine Revette in Reno, Nevada. He belonged to the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and was an AA fellowship of 34 years. Those who knew Butch will forever remember him of his love for camping, playing solitaire, driving his grandson’s corvette, taking motorcycle rides, traveling, family vacations to Florida, and above all being with his family and grandchildren – they were the light of his life. Butch will be missed dearly and lovingly remembered for generations to come. Butch leaves to carry on his legacy, his wife of 21 years, Christine; children, Kathleen (Martin J. Woods) Allin, Karen Garner CW3 Chief Warrant Officer 3, Jayme (Kerri) Johnson, Adam Johnson, and Shannon (Scott) Umphrey; special son-in-law, Thomas (Jody) O’Bee; grandchildren, Michelle (Justin Kritzman) O’Bee, Mallory O’Bee, Macey O’Bee, Carson Garner, Thomas O’Bee, Griffin Johnson, Maxwell Johnson, Kasia Johnson, Connor Johnson, Joshua Johnson, Aidan Umphrey, Avery Umphrey, and Amelia Grace Umphrey; great-grandchildren, Mason Bennett and one on the way; sister, Helene Renaud; in-laws, Nancy (Thomas) Cortner, Barbara (Daniel) Anthony, Jan Revette, Denise (Ollie) LaFray, Daniel (Jill) Revette, and Marybeth (Michael) Fleming; special niece and nephew, Sheryl Jankowski and Anthony Jankowski, along with several other nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Butch was welcomed home to heaven by the mother of his children, Jean (Shank) Allin; step-mother, Helen (Morrison) Allin; sister, Marjorie Jo Jankowski, and brothers-in-law, Jack Renaud and Darrell Revette. Butch’s family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, August 9, 2019 from 1:00 PM until the time of his 6:00 PM Life Celebration at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the wishes of the family or the American Cancer Society.
