Obituary of Frank "Butch" Raymond Lewandowski

Frank “Butch” Raymond Lewandowski, Jr., 67, of Essexville, our caring, hardworking, reliable, strong, and loving husband, father, Papa, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on July 31, 2019 at Brian’s House, with his family by his side. Frank was born on November 21, 1951 in Detroit at Mount Camel Hospital, the son of Frank and Shirley (Korkenmeier) Lewandowski Sr. Frank attended Wyandotte grade school and then graduated from Annapolis High School. Butch proudly answered the call of his country and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1971-1974, serving overseas in Guam. While in the U.S. Air Force, Frank met the love of his life, the former Marsha Cepak. They were set up by Sonnie and Marie and the rest is history, they were united in marriage on May 3, 1975. Together they shared over 44 years, four children, and countless memories. Frank worked at the V.A. Hospital in Dearborn for five years, at a janitorial company in San Jose, California for three years, and then owned his own janitorial service company for over 25 years. He belonged to the Fraternal Order of Police of Bay City, the American Legion Post 249 – where he was the Commander for two years, and he belonged to the PLAV where he was named veteran of the year in 2018. Those who knew Frank will forever remember him for his love of bowling, fishing, boating, playing Euchre, going to Loons games, and watching his beloved Tigers, Lions, and Red Wings. He will be missed dearly and lovingly remembered for generations to come. Frank leaves to carry on his legacy, his loving wife, Marsha; children, Scott Lewandowski, Jennifer (Mike) Allen, Jamie (Brenda) Kayden, and Meredith Conniff. He was the loving Papa of Sabrina Conniff, Joey Lewandowski, Logan Conniff, Ellen Lewandowski, and Cortney Larsen; twin great-granddaughters, Laci and Liana Larsen; mother, Shirley Lewandowski. Butch also leaves his siblings, Shirley Connolly, Donald (Cheryl) Lewandowski, Barbara (Robert) Avram, Margaret Gaul, and Eileen (Scott) Lewandowski; sisters-in-law, Marie (Sonnie) Snyder and Mary (Dave) Jakubczak, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Frank was welcomed home to heaven by his father, Frank Lewandowski Sr.; sister, Patsy Lewandowski; grandparents, Frank and Bernice Lewandowski, in-laws, Joseph and Ellen Cepak, and his brother-in-law, Bill Connolly. Frank’s family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, August 2, 2019 from 10:00 AM until the time of his 3:00 PM Life Celebration at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. Pastor Eric Kieb will officiate with private inurnment to be held in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan.
