Obituary of William "Bill" Lee Toland
William “Bill” Lee Toland, 69, of Hampton Twp., our optimistic, funny, gregarious, loyal, and loving soulmate, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away unexpectedly on July 30, 2019. Bill was born on September 11, 1949 in Bay City, the son of the late William and Leona (Kline) Toland. Bill graduated from T.L. Handy High School, class of 1967 and went on to join the Army Reserves. When he was younger, Bill enjoyed running track, playing baseball with his twin cousins, boxing, taking his daughter snow plowing, and speed racing his nova or corvettes. He was the owner of Bill’s Body Shop for over 50 years and a member of the Saginaw Bay Yacht Club, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and the American Legion. In 1990 Bill met his soul mate, Kimberly Huntley. They dated, fell in love, and have been inseparable ever since. Bill or “Wild Bill from Essexville” as he was known by, loved to entertain; he was known for having big cookouts and grilling his signature ribs; Bill had his student pilot’s license, he loved being in the sky-although you had to be very brave to fly with him. Those who knew Bill will forever remember him for his love of boating and cookouts in Caseville, NASCAR racing, taking trips to Florida – especially the Daytona Speedway and Islamorada, and above all his love for his family. He truly lived life to the fullest, always getting together with his friends and family, creating everlasting stories and memories. Bill’s bright and caring soul will be missed dearly and lovingly remembered for generations to come. Bill leaves to carry on his legacy his soulmate, Kim Huntley; daughters, Shannon (Thad) Rathkamp and Rachel (Matthew) Burley; grandchildren, Braylin, Mason, Jake, Morgan, Maya, Tori, and Haley; siblings, Kris (Jim) Samyn and Kendall Toland; sister-in-law, Lorraine Toland; former wife and friend, Mary Rogers; former son-in-law, Mete Olgac, along with many nieces, nephews, and very dear friends. In addition to his parents, Bill was welcomed home to heaven by his brother John Toland.
