Obituary of Theodore Lawrence Ward
Theodore L. Ward, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019, at the age of 87. He was born in Royal Oak, Michigan on April 11, 1932, the son of the late Thomas and Ann Ward. Ted was attending the University of Detroit when the Korean conflict started. He chose to enlist in the U.S. Air Force where he became a B29 crewman. After receiving an honorable discharge he attended Ferris Institute. Ted then met and married Laura McCord, his wife of 49 years and together they raised a son and three daughters. He was employed by General Motors and retired after 29 years. Ted was predeceased by his beloved guardians, Hazel and Alberta Ward; his brother Kenneth Ward; his wife, Laura; daughter, Linda Cruz, and son, Ronald. He is survived by his daughters, Diane (Lloyd) Rayner, of Bay City and Paulette (Steven) Snyder of Waco, Texas, along with 12 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren. Ted and Laura enjoyed traveling in their R.V.’s, visiting relatives downstate, playing cards, and meeting new friends. After Laura’s death, Ted started going to the Hampton Township Senior Center where he met new friends including his buddy, Don Johnson. He also spent many happy hours with his nieces, nephews, cousins, and with the Yorkey and Spaulding families. He was a member of the GM Salary Retirees Club. Ted has been cremated and will be laid to rest with his wife at St. Patrick Cemetery. Final arrangements have been entrusted to Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N.
