Obituary of Jimmie Joe Kelsey

Jimmie Joe Kelsey, 81, of Saginaw, our honorable, proud, loving, and devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at home. Jimmie was born on April 3, 1938 in Saginaw, the son of the late Milton and Jean (Osborn) Kelsey. Jimmie graduated from Arthur Hill High School and then went on to proudly answer the call of his country. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 until 1962 during the Korean War, earning the rank of specialist. On May 14, 1970, Jimmie married the love of his life, the former Lynn Dee Sauer. Sadly, Lynn Dee preceded Jimmie in death on March 19, 2008. Jimmie worked as a police officer for Zilwaukee, drove truck for Baker Perkins and Special Delivery Services, and later drove the ambulance for the Saginaw Veterans Administration. He was a member of the Eagles and VFW. Throughout life, he enjoyed playing, coaching, and refereeing soccer games, taking hikes on wilderness trails, going on overnight salmon fishing trips to Oscoda, and just being outdoors watching wildlife. He enjoyed drawing, writing poems, and he loved to play all kinds of games with his grandchildren and his daughter-in-law, especially Tri-Ominos. Jimmie’s family was the light of his life, will be missed dearly and lovingly remembered for generations to come. Jimmie leaves to carry on his legacy, his children, Tracy Kelsey, Darla “Keleigh” (Leon) Zimmerman, and Brian (Shaun) Most; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Milton “Bud” (Kate) Kelsey and Patricia (Tom) Millerick; brother-in-law, Donald “Thomas” Sauer; sisters-in-law, Debbie (Bruce) Hitz, Billie (Thomas) Pulaski, Becky Sauer, and Tamala (Russ) Flewelling, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Jimmie was welcomed home to heaven by his son, Scott Most. Jimmie’s family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 9:00 AM until the time of his 2:00 PM Tribute Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services (formerly Reitz-Herzberg), 1550 Midland Rd., between State & Gratiot. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
