Obituary of Annette Marie O'Brien
Annette Marie O’Brien, 67, of Bay City, our determined, dedicated, and most compassionate wife, mother, Grammie, sister, aunt, and friend was born into eternal life on the morning of Sunday, July 14, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Annette was born in Bay City on July 18, 1951, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rita (Matuszewski) Madziar. Annette attended St. Stanislaus School and was a 1969 graduate of All Saints High School. She received her B.A. in 1980 and her M.B.A. in 1993 from Saginaw Valley State University. Before her college education, Annette worked in the restaurant industry. Following college, she was a devoted social worker, specializing in adoptions for Catholic Family Services. It’s at Catholic Family Services where she met William Beard. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on November 21, 1992. Annette later retired from the Diocese of Saginaw, where she was the Director of Stewardship for 22 years. Following retirement, she continued her ministry, faithfully serving her parish, St. Jude Thaddeus, as the Stewardship Coordinator. A devout Catholic and true servant of the Lord, Annette’s genuine and warm personality was always welcoming to both friends and strangers alike. She had a true servant’s heart and will forever be remembered for her love of family, especially her grandchildren. Annette enjoyed leading pilgrimages to the Holy Land, Italy, Poland, Ireland and to the shrines of Fatima and Lourdes. Annette also enjoyed traveling with her family; in her younger years on camping trips, and more recently to Cozumel. She will be deeply missed, yet lovingly remembered for generations to come. Annette leaves to carry on her legacy, her husband, William Beard; daughter, Jennifer and husband, Mathieu Pero, and her step-son, Alex Beard & Shannon Osburn. Annette was the most supportive and loving “Grammie” of Brett, Landric, and Ashytn Pero; Natalie and Addison Beard, and Phoebe Osburn. She will be deeply missed by her siblings, Patrick & Kathy Madziar, Joseph & Gail Madziar, Monica Madziar & Jim Dishaw, and Donald & Jan Madziar. Also surviving are many aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Annette’s family will be present to receive visitors at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), 614 Pine St., Essexville, on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Vigil for Annette. On Wednesday, July 17, 2019, visiting will continue from 10:00 AM until Annette’s 11:00 AM Funeral Liturgy at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish. Fr. Dale Orlik and Dcn. Timothy Hartwig will concelebrate with the Rite of Committal to be held privately in St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish or The Emmaus House of Saginaw. The entire family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Michael Hurtubise and his staff for their compassionate care.
