Obituary of Joyce Blankenship
Joyce Kathleen Blankenship, 73, of Bay City, our joyful, generous, compassionate, encouraging, and most kind mother, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend went home to be with the Lord on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at The Carriage House. Joyce was born in Bay City on October 31, 1945, the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Hoppes) Caldwell. She was a 1963 graduate of T.L. Handy High School. On April 3, 1964, Joyce was united in marriage to David Blankenship, who preceded her in death on June 27, 2005. A devoted servant of the Lord, throughout her life, Joyce was a lifelong member of The Salvation Army, attended Riverwalk Baptist Church for the past three years and was past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed baking, gardening, reading, shopping, and most of all, spending time with her family. Joyce leaves to carry on her legacy, her children: Susan Horner, Deborah Blankenship, David G. (Linda) Blankenship, Daniel (Sandra) Blankenship, Kathleen Ingersoll (fiancée, Dave Jankowski), and her honorary daughter, Arabelle Rottman; grandchildren, Matthew Saelens, Nicole Horner, Jennifer Horner, Christina (Joey) Grabowski, Ashley (David) Bowman, Matthew (Maria) Blankenship, Charles, Marina, Christina, and Zachary Blankenship, Michael Ingersoll (Carmen), and Alexandra Ingersoll (Brett); many great-grandchildren; siblings, Dr. Neal (Janet) Caldwell and Robert Caldwell; brother-in-law, Ottman Rau, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce was welcomed home to heaven by her son-in-law, Rob Horner; granddaughter, Melissa Saelens; siblings, Leonard (Florabel) Caldwell, Herbert (Sarah) Caldwell, Jean Blankenship, Louise Rau, and Edward Caldwell. Joyce’s family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, July 5, 2019 from 9:00 AM until the time of Joyce’s 10:45 AM Eastern Star Ceremony, followed by her Tribute Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. Interment will be held privately in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to The Salvation Army.
