Obituary of Doris M. Rivard
Doris M. Rivard, 90, of Essexville, our loving and devoted mother, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend entered God’s kingdom on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Bay Medical Care Facility. Doris was born on February 9, 1929 in Bay City, the daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Wazbinski) Oswald. On May 21, 1949, Doris married the love of her life, Donald A. Rivard. Together they shared over 59 years of marriage, four children, and countless memories. Sadly, Donald preceded Doris in death on June 4, 2008. Doris was a wonderful homemaker and lifelong parishioner of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church.) She enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting, taking trips to the casino, and above all, spending time with her family. Doris will be missed dearly but lovingly remembered for generations to come. Doris leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Beverly (John) Gentile of Davidson, North Carolina, Susan Hunter of Essexville, Jill (Michael) White of Grand Ledge, and Lori Sharrard of Bay City. She was the loving grandma of 11 grandchildren: Joseph (Lori) Gentile, Ann (Christian) Pellegrino, David (Hannah) Gentile, Trevor (Katelyn) Hunter, Hayley Hunter, Britney (Greg) Niforos, Jerod (Ashley) Lankford, Kevin (Ashley) Lankford, Jeremy Sharrard, Jaclyn Sharrard, and Steven Miller; eight great-grandchildren: Jackson, Paige, Sophia, and Sebastian Gentile, Layla and Luca Pellegrino, Teddy Niforos, and Colton Lankford. She also is survived by her sisters-in-law, Joyce Oswald and Electa Oswald; brother-in-law, Thomas Rivard, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Doris was welcomed home to heaven by her five brothers, Louis, Richard, Kenneth, Ronald, and Gary Oswald, and her sister, Lillian Kaliszewski. Doris’ family will be present to receive visitors on Monday, July 1, 2019 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Vigil for Doris at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. On Tuesday, July 2, 2019, Doris will be taken to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church) 614 Pine St., Essexville, where visiting will continue from 10:00 AM until the time of her 11:00 AM Funeral Liturgy. Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate with entombment to be held in St. Patrick Mausoleum. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Bay Medical Care Facility on 1 East and 2 East, for the amazing care they have provided her over the past 6 ½ years.
