Obituary of Heidi Ann LaLonde

Heidi Ann LaLonde, 44, of Charlevoix, formerly of Midland, our compassionate, brave, artistic, funny, and loving daughter, sister, aunt, soul mate, and friend passed away after a courageous 12-year battle with pancreatitis on June 18, 2019 in Traverse City. Heidi was born on June 12, 1975 in Midland, the youngest daughter of seven of John Arthur and Mary Ann (Cutting) LaLonde. Growing up she would organize play productions at family camping trips – complete with costumes, scripts, music, and vocals. She was a music prodigy of voice and piano, her first performance was in 1st Grade, singing a solo in, “All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth.” Heidi went on to perform in “Brigadoon,” “Die Fledermaus,” “Music Man,” “My Fair Lady,” “Sound of Music,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Annie,” “Avenue Q,” and many more. She graduated from Midland High School and then attended Lake Superior State University and Grand Valley State University. Heidi was the music director of Unity Church of Bay City and Unity of the Way. She was a vocal teacher, sold pianos – earning the Yamaha Sales Award, in which she won a trip to Japan. She was the Director of Germania Music and Play, a recording artist, soloist, and above all, a humanitarian. She loved all pets, especially her beloved cats, Wicket, Fiz-Gig, and Hershey, and any injured animal, always nurturing them back to health. She belonged to the Midland Music Theater and Pit and Balcony. Heidi was awarded the Lead Performance of the Year from Midland Center of the Arts, she created her own solo CD, “Blesssings,” and she won multiple music awards and music competitions. Those who knew Heidi, knew of her love of peacocks, frogs, elephants, anything that sparkled, reading Dan Brown, creating nail designs, diamond stone designs, drawing, jewelry making, her ability to find anything on the internet that no one else could find, composing music & lyrics, and her amazing, creative, handmade gifts that always had a special meaning for every person. Heidi could truly make the ordinary beautiful and make everyone feel so very special. Her unconditional love and beautiful soul were unmatched. Heidi leaves to cherish her memory, her sweet furbaby, Wicket; her mother, Mary Ann; she was the most loving and fun sister to Deborah (Jerry) Selcz, Linda LaLonde, Rosemarie (Chris) Ignash, Sandra (Daniel) Manninen, and Jennifer LaLonde; she was the awesome aunt of Sean Valenzuela, Jason Valenzuela, Jack Ignash, Carrie Manninen, Rebecca LaLonde, Leeza LaLonde, Katerina LaLonde, and Rachel LaLonde; her partner of life and soul mate, Darryl “EZ D” Turner, along with many friends. Heidi was welcomed home to heaven by her father, John A. LaLonde; her sister, Karen LaLonde, and her furbabies, Hershey and Fiz-Gig. Heidi’s family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, June 21, 2019 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp.
