Obituary of Beth Garvin

Beth Garvin, 74, of Bay City, our selfless, kind, and loving mother, Grams, sister, aunt, and friend was born into eternal life on the morning of Thursday, May 30, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her family after a brief battle with cancer. Beth was born in Bay City on February 14, 1945, the daughter of the late Roland George and Margaret Cecilia (Mayotte) Sauve. While working at Steering Gear, Beth met Robert Garvin. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage for fifty years. Sadly, Bob preceded Beth in death on July 14, 2017. Throughout life, Beth was known for her love of gardening. She took great pride in her home, and always made sure everyone felt warm, welcomed, and cozy. A wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother, Beth’s family, especially her grandchildren, always came first. She was everyone’s prayer warrior and the true matriarch of the family. Beth naturally enjoyed cooking and coordinated the best Christmas celebrations. She was sweet, but sometimes sassy; gentle, yet sometimes firm, and will be deeply missed, yet lovingly remembered for generations to come. Beth leaves to carry on her legacy, her two children: Ann Marie (Jim) Lazzaro and Patrick Wm. (Lana) Garvin. She was the most caring and loving Grandma of Anthony, Kevin, Morgan, Brandon, Rachel, Brayden, Garrett, and Taylor. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her sisters, Marietta (Ken) Marciniak, Margaret (Krantz), Jackie (Bruce) Burkel, Nan (Jim) Hages; in-laws, Betty Kay (Dick) Clements and Michael (Carole) Garvin, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Beth was welcomed home to heaven by her husband, Bob, and brothers-in-law, Bob Derr and James Krantz. Beth’s family will be present to receive visitors on Sunday, June 2, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Vigil for Beth at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. On Monday, June 3, 2019, Beth will be taken to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), 614 Pine St., Essexville, where visiting will continue from 9:00 AM until Beth’s 10:00 AM Funeral Liturgy. Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate with the Rite of Committal to follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society. The entire family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Active Community Nursing, especially Theresa Dore, and McLaren Hospice for their compassionate care. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
