Obituary of Laura Leona Darling

Laura Leona Darling, 85, of Essexville, our gentle, loving, and most kind wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, and wonderful friend was born into eternal life on the morning of Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Brian’s House. Laura was born in Essexville on July 29, 1933, the daughter of the late Oscar and Elmira (Wiedyk) Bokhart. Laura was a 1951 graduate of St. John’s High School. After some buddies convinced Joseph Darling that he needed a prom date, he mustered up the courage to ask Laura. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on July 6, 1957. Laura worked for Jennison & Co. Hardware and was known for her love of bowling, golfing, fishing, gardening and tending to her flowers, and being there for anyone in need. Her loving ways will live on in the hearts of her family for generations to come. Laura leaves to carry on her legacy, her soulmate and inseparable best friend; her husband of nearly 62 years, Joe Darling and their four children: Joseph (Nancy) Darling, Stephen Darling, Judith (Kevin) Riker, and Robert Darling. She was the most loving and supportive grandma of Samuel, Ryan, Emily, Jason, Laura, Jessica, Jordan, and Mariah, and also leaves behind many great-grandchildren; siblings, Nancy Beehler, Joann Jasman, Donald (Maureen) Bokhart, along with many nieces, nephews, and countless friends. In addition to her parents, Laura was welcomed home to heaven by her brother-in-law, Walter Beehler. Laura’s family will be present to receive visitors on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, with the Rosary to be prayed at 10:00 AM in St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), 614 Pine St., Essexville. Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate with the Rite of Committal to follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Mausoleum. A tribute reception will follow in The Wesley Room at Skorupski’s. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online atwww.skorupskis.com.
