Obituary of Charles Henry Card, Sr.

Charles Henry Card, Sr., 74, of Midland, our hardworking, innovative, devoted, strong-willed, and religious husband, father, Papa, brother, uncle, and friend was born into eternal life on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at his home. Charlie was born in Saginaw on July 3, 1944, the son of the late Alexander and Caroline (Ziembo) Card. He was a 1963 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. He later went on to have a Masters in B.S.’ing.  While in high school, Charlie met the former Barbara Dater. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on February 27, 1965. Throughout life, Charlie was strong in his Catholic faith and a member of St. George Byzantine Catholic Church. He loved to tinker in the garage and work on cars. Charlie was Past President of the Whittemore Speedway and enjoyed participating in tractor pulls. He enjoyed volunteering for hospice and taught catechism at St. Anthony’s in Fisherville as well. Charlie also enjoyed keeping busy with the Moose & Eagles Club, while vacationing in Florida.  People always enjoyed listening to Charlie’s stories. He was a man who always had an open-door policy for anyone that needed it. He leaves to carry on his legacy, his loving wife of 54 years, Barb and their children: Christine (Wade) Miller, Charles (Kate) Card, Melissa (Steve) Coleman, Ben Card, and Sara (Matt) Lynch. He was the loving and devoted Papa of Kayla (Vincent) Ostrander, Emily Troxell, Brayden Miller, Kyle Card, Cody Card, Haley Coleman, Joshua Coleman, Charlee Lynch, and Wyatt Lynch. Also surviving are his siblings, Robert (Josette) Card, Alex (Betty) Card, Elizabeth (Jim) Avram, Theresa (Larry) Burdick, and Pat Card, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Charlie was predeceased by his grandson, Lukas Michael Lynch and siblings, Mary Card, Ken (Jean) Card, Jim Card, Steve Zietz, long time friend and father and mother-in-law, Eli and Lucille Dater.  The family will be present to receive visitors on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 10:00 AM until Charles' 11:00 AM Funeral Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. Fr. James Batcha of St. George Byzantine Catholic Church will officiate with the Rite of Committal to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Kawkawlin.
