Obituary of James Warner Russell
James “Jim” Warner Russell, 85, of Hampton Township, our wonderful, gentle, and sweet husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away on April 15, 2019 at his home with his family by his side. Jim was born in Detroit on March 14, 1934, the son of the late James Russell and Dorothy (Signor) Lyon. Jim graduated from Onaway High School and went on to work first at Great Lakes Freighters, and then retired from Consumers Energy, where he worked in the results lab. He met the former Jane (O’Brien) Dodge and they married on October 14, 1983. Jim was a devoted member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle, snowmobiling, flying his airplane and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered for generations to come. Jim leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 36 years, Jane; children James Russell, Pamla (Jeff) LeVasseur, Angie (Marty) Spencer; step-children Mark (Jane) Dodge, Linda Dodge, David (Stacey) Dodge; grandchildren Katie (Jason) Lisko, Brad (Amanda) LeVasseur, Kyle Spencer, Carly Dodge, Cristi (Brad) Julien; great-grandchildren William, Grayson, Kamden James, Taylor, Cana; siblings Karen and Katherine Russell; in-laws Bonnie Graves, William Mead and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, Jim was welcomed into heaven by his sister Evelyn Roulene Mead; in-laws Pat Pierson, Mary Lou Habermehl, Gordon O’Brien, William O’Brien, William Painter. Jim's family will be present to receive visitors on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 10:00 AM until his 11:00 AM Memorial Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Bay County, the ASPCA, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
