Obituary of John Elmer Neal
John Elmer Neal, 86, of Essexville, our generous, loving, honest, and devoted husband, father, and grandfather passed away on April 14, 2019, at Brian’s House. John was born on March 1, 1933, in Bay City, the son of the late Walter J. and Elma (Lindauer) Neal. John graduated from high school in 1950 and went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Navy, aboard seven different aircraft carriers during the Korean War. In 1954, John married the love of his life, the former Shirley Anne Kline of Cheboygan. They were married in Fairgrove by John’s childhood pastor, Rev. Paul W. Plueddemann. Together they shared over 65 years, three daughters, and countless memories. Throughout life, John enjoyed woodworking, fishing, crossword puzzles, and above all, spending time with his grandchildren – they were truly the lights of his life. John leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Shirley; daughters, Peggy Anne Hoffman, Lori Louise (Rodney) Ruse, and Julie Jean (Richard) Crete; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, along with several friends. At John’s request, cremation has taken place and inurnment will follow in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Final arrangements have been entrusted to Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N.
