Obituary of Robert Joseph Weiler
Robert Joseph Weiler, 89, of Hampton Twp., our loving and caring husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend was born into eternal life on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at McLaren Bay Region.Bob was born in Hampton Twp. on October 29, 1929, the son of the late John and Monica (Karner) Weiler. He graduated from St. John’s High School with the Class of 1949 and went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Prior to joining the military, he participated in the Professional Minor Farm League. His love for baseball continued as he never missed a Chicago Cubs game. Through their children, Bob was set up on a blind date with the former Donna Sullivan. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on January 23, 1970. After 41 years of service as a laboratory technician at Dow Chemical, Bob retired in 1994. He was a parishioner of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish and enjoyed bike riding, trips to the casino, and was a member of the Elks Club in Bay City. Bob leaves to carry on his legacy, his devoted wife of forty-eight years, Donna L. Weiler; children, William Mitchell, John (Laura) Weiler, Mike (Cindy) Mitchell, Julie Dolan, Patti Oullette, Peggy Mitchell, and Jennifer Weiler, 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara (Ken) Symborski and Joseph (Judy) Weiler; sisters-in-law, Diana (Charles) Chenoweth, Linda Weiler, and JoAnn Weiler, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Bob was welcomed home to heaven by his first wife, Jane (Fournier) Weiler, daughter and son-in-law, Jill & David Beeler; grandsons, Collyn Weiler and Michael Miller; daughter-in-law, Mina Mitchell, and siblings, Betty Irby, Gene Weiler, and Keith Weiler. Bob’s family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Vigil for Bob at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. On Friday, January 4, 2019, Bob will be taken to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), 614 Pine St., Essexville, where visiting will continue from 10:00 AM until Bob’s 11:00 AM Memorial Liturgy. Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate with a Life Celebration following at the Silver Palace. The Rite of Committal will be held privately in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
