Obituary of Eileen Ann VanTol
Eileen Ann VanTol, 91, of Essexville, our caring and most loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend went home to be with the Lord on Christmas Day, December 25, 2018 at Sheffield Bay. Eileen was born in Freeland on October 4, 1927, the daughter of the late Gottlieb and Catherine (Spindler) Schlicker. While working at A & W as a car hop, Eileen met Virgil "Fid" VanTol. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on October 1, 1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Sadly, Fid preceded Eileen in death on February 20, 2010. Throughout life, Eileen enjoyed bowling and her Detroit Tigers, along with puzzles and collecting angels, which was so very fitting, as Eileen was a true angel on earth. She loved tending to her flowers, especially lilacs, and in her younger years enjoyed fishing and camping. Her love for her family and friends will live on for generations to come. Eileen leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Kathleen and husband. Charles Ward, Lynn and husband, Dave Malusi, Randy and wife, Lori VanTol, and her daughter-in-law, Sherry VanTol. Eileen was the devoted and most supportive grandma of Heather Gorsline and her husband, Jeff, Charles Ward and his wife, Shawna, Hope Fowler and her husband, Eric, Denise VanTol, Lesley Bodrie and her husband, Ed, Scott Martinson and his girlfriend, Crystal, Crystal Miller and her husband, Joey, and Kevin Yenglin and his wife, Brooke. Also surviving are Eileen's great-grandchildren, Ben, Alex, Sam, Trajan, Tyric, Sophia, Sydney, Blake, Lincoln, and Natalie, along with her sister, Dorothy Pretzer, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Eileen was welcomed home to heaven by her son, Timothy VanTol and brothers, Edward and Elmer Schlicker. Eileen's family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. On Saturday, December 29, 2018, Eileen will be taken to Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1705 Nebobish Ave., Essexville, where visiting will continue from 10:00 AM until Eileen's 11:00 AM Funeral Ceremony. Rev. Erwin Hutter will officiate with a luncheon at church immediately following. Private interment will be held in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Pilgrim Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor's choice. The entire family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Sheffield Bay and McLaren Bay Region, especially Cathy on the 5th floor for the compassionate care provided to Eileen. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
