Obituary of Dolores Bernard

Dolores Bernard, 86, of Essexville, our loving and nurturing mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend was born into eternal life on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Dolores was born in Wisner on April 12, 1932, the daughter of the late Maurice and Madeline (VanHove) Bruneel. Dolores worked at General Motors, and it's there at work where she met her husband, Russell "Russ" J. Bernard. They were united in marriage for 44 years before Russ preceded her in death on December 22, 2017. Those who knew Dolores, knew she was a dedicated golfer and an avid walker. Dolores and Russ enjoyed many winters spent in Sun City, Arizona. Family always came first with Dolores; she was always looking out for others and putting the needs of those around her before her own. Dolores leaves to cherish her memory, her two children: Cheryl (Mitchell) Dewald of Caro and Ron Wiergowski of West Bloomfield; grandchildren, Nicole (Al) Miller of Sandusky, Shelby Dewald of Caro, and Maggy Wiergowski of Ann Arbor; siblings, Rosemary Prime of Iowa, Diane (Fred) Maxey of Holly, Linda (Doug) Mears of Tennessee; in-laws, Bob (Arlene) Bernard of Midland, Tom (Edna) Bernard of Lebanon, MO, Janie (Larry) Curler of Sanford, and Carol Bruneel of Reese, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Dolores was welcomed home to heaven by her siblings, Melvin Bruneel, Joyce Foster, Ceil (Albert) Claeys, and in-laws  Bill Prime, and Dick Bernard. Dolores' family will be present to receive visitors on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Vigil for Dolores at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. On Wednesday, August 1, 2018, Dolores will be taken to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), 614 Pine St., Essexville, where visiting will continue from 10:00 AM until Dolores' 11:00 AM Funeral Liturgy. Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate with the Rite of Committal to follow in Floral Gardens Cemetery, followed by a reception in The Wesley Room at Skorupski's.
