Obituary of Laurie Lynn Meyer-Morris (Pawlak)

Laurie Lynn Meyer-Morris, 46, of Kalamazoo, formerly of Bay City, our hilarious, witty, smart, bold, fun, sometimes unfiltered, and most loving wife, mom, grandma, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend was born into eternal life on the morning of Sunday, June 17, 2018 in Kalamazoo. Laurie was born on July 24, 1971 in Bay City, the daughter of William Meyer and Patricia Schultz-Pawlak. Laurie, known to many as “The Facilitator” graduated from T.L. Handy High School and went on to work as a store manager at J&R Coins and Jewelry. Through her brother, Jeff, Laurie happened to meet Brandan Gregory Morris. For their first date, they went to The Chappelle Show in 2007, ended up falling in love, and were united in marriage on July 22, 2011. Those who knew Laurie, knew she had a knack for rock hunting, gold prospecting, jewelry, coins, music, documentary watching, geology, genealogy, and going for walks. She was the most awesome mother to her two beautiful daughters, Alexis and Kelsey, and step-daughter, Sydney. Laurie loved being a grandma to her sweet Nova Lynn; her family truly was the light of her life. Above all, Laurie had the ability to connect with all sorts of people from all walks of life. She was an old soul who touched the lives of so many, and will be deeply missed, but lovingly remembered for years to come. Laurie leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Brandan; her daughters, Alexis Crook and Kelsey McGee; step-daughter, Sydney Morris; granddaughter, Nova Lynn Stritmatter; parents, William Meyer and Patricia Schultz-Pawlak; step-father, Michael Pawlak; siblings, Tammy Pawlak-Witzgall and husband Bryan, Kimberly Meyers-Peters and husband, David, Jeff Meyer and wife, Lilly, Aaron Pawlak and wife, Bethany, and Todd Pawlak; in-laws, Robert Morris Sr., Cindy Kelly, Robert Morris II and wife, Christina, and Kelly Morris; best friend, Dollie Valadez, respected mentor and associate, Russell Barr and Amy Johnson, along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was welcomed home to heaven  by her grandparents, Kenneth & Marian Schultz, Arnold & Cordula Meyer, Sylvester & Dorothy Pawlak, Thomas & Margaret Kelly, and Charlene Taylor. Laurie's family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, June 22, 2018 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Vigil for Laurie at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. On Saturday, June 23, 2018, Laurie will be taken to All Saints Parish (St. James Church), 710 Columbus Ave., Bay City, where visiting will continue from 10:00 AM until Laurie's 11:00 AM Funeral Liturgy. Fr. Jose Maria Cabrera will officiate with the Rite of Committal to be held privately in St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family for an educational fund to be established for Laurie's granddaughter, Nova c/o Raymond James.
