Obituary of Yvonne Joy "Bonnie" Hellebuyck

Bonnie Hellebuyck, 77, of Essexville, our loving, dedicated, and most caring wife, mother, Nana, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on the morning of Thursday, May 24, 2018 at McLaren Bay Region. Bonnie was born in Bay City on April 19, 1941, the daughter of the late Herbert Martin and Lillian Dorothy (Lafayette) Schafer. While at a wedding, Bonnie met the love of her life, her “honey bear,” Edward James Hellebuyck. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on March 3, 1973. After many years of faithful service, Bonnie retired from Bay Medical Care Facility as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Her hobbies included needlepoint (especially making sweatshirts), camping at Higgins Lake, where she could be found fishing, and most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Bonnie leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 45 years, Ed and their two children, Karen (Mark) Casault and Mark (Stephanie) Hellebuyck. She was the most loving and supportive Nana of Calvin and Carson Casault, Aiden and Ashton Hellebuyck, and Morgan Casault. Also surviving are her siblings, Herbert (Xenia) Schafer, Robert (Monnie) Schafer, and John (Sandy) Owsiak; in-laws, Michael Olney, Judy Lucynski, Rose (Herb) Stedry, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Bonnie was welcomed home to heaven by her step-father, Leonard Owsiak; her sister, Janet Olney, and sister-in-law, Antonia Schafer. Bonnie’s family will be present to receive visitors on Monday, May 28, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 10:00 AM until Bonnie’s 11:00 AM Life Celebration at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N.
