Jim was born in Hamtramck on February 4, 1946, the son of the late Roman and Alice (Pieczkowski) Kontranowski. He was a 1964 graduate of Bay City Central and proudly served in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of E5. While hanging around Mr. Hot Dog, he met the former Marian Maciejewski. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on July 16, 1966. Jim was a member of the U.A.W. Jim was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish (St. Hyacinth Church), where he was a former usher. Known for his excellent handyman skills, Jim could repair anything and enjoyed woodworking. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 51 years, Marian and their two sons: James (Liberty) Kontranowski and Michael (Kristin) Kontranowski.
