Obituary of Ethel Mary Ensing
Ethel Mary Ensing, 93, of Auburn, our strong, honest, tough, and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend was born into eternal life on the morning of Saturday, February 3, 2018 at her home. Ethel was born in Saginaw, on June 2, 1924, the daughter of the late Carrol and Phyllis (Thompson) Keene. Ethel was also affectionately known as “Sis” and Gramma E. In August 1956, she married the love of her life, Gerrit Ensing; Together, they shared 35 years of marriage and six wonderful children. Sadly, Gerrit predeceased Ethel in August of 1991. Ethel was an amazing homemaker, a member of Auburn 1st Baptist Church, and always made sure to stay in contact with her extended family. She enjoyed quilting, clipping magazines, and collecting. Ethel leaves to cherish her memory, her six children, Gary (Jan) Ensing, Tammy (Bill) Heydens, Marlene (Eddie) Vasquez, Dale (Deb) Ensing, Kevin (Deena) Ensing, and Steve (Sheri) Ensing; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Erma Reiger; step-son-in-law, Larry Squires, and step-daughter, Donna of Texas. In addition to her husband, Gerrit, and her parents, Ethel was welcomed home to heaven by her granddaughter, Nichole Heydens; siblings, Walter (Angie) Keene, Wesley (Phyllis) Keene, and John Keene; brother-in-law, Rocky Reiger, and step-children, Eugene “Spud” (Alma) Ensing and Eleanore Squires. Private arrangements have been entrusted to Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family.
