Obituary of Lawrence Marian "Larry" Banaszak

Lawrence Marian Banaszak, 97, of Essexville, our hardworking and loving father and grandfather was born into eternal life on the afternoon of Friday, February 2, 2018 at Bay Medical Care Facility. Larry was born in Bay City on December 9, 1920, the son of the late Alexander and Agnes (Smolinski) Banaszak. He served in the Army Infantry during World War II. Rank of PFC, Larry was awarded the Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, European, African, Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Battle Stars, a Combat Infantry Badge, and two Overseas Service Bars. On December 13, 1941, Larry married the love of his life, the former Delores Fritzler. Sadly, after 54 wonderful years of marriage, Delores predeceased Larry on February 1, 1996. Throughout life, Larry was known for his hard work ethic, he retired from Chevrolet, now GM Powertrain, after 36 ½ years. He will be missed dearly. Larry leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Lawrence J. Banaszak, Gary Banaszak, and Sandra (Tony) Windt; grandchildren, Brandt and John Banaszak, Reverend Jeffrey (Mariah) Windt, and Janae (David) Winkles; great-grandchildren, Miranda and Lyndsey Winkles, Jonah, Elijah, and Jude Windt, and several others; two sisters-in-law and special niece, Lillian Mullins. In addition to his wife, Delores, and his parents, Larry was welcomed home to heaven by his infant daughter, Joan; siblings, Virginia Townsend, Marie Geisz, and Floyd Banaszak; step-brother, Donald Greenwood, and in-laws, Jacob and Marie (Maier) Fritzler. Larry’s family will be present to receive visitors on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 9:00 AM until the time of his 11:00 AM Funeral Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. Reverend Jeffrey J. Windt will officiate with interment to be held at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family.
