Obituary of Marie M. VanOchten

Marie M. VanOchten, 88, of Hampton Twp., our kind and considerate, thoughtful, appreciative, and most wonderful mother and grandma was born into eternal life on the morning of Monday, January 15, 2018 at Bay Medical Care Facility. Marie was born in Hampton Twp. on October 27, 1929, the daughter of the late Alphonse and Elizabeth (Vennix) Debo. She eventually met the neighbor next door, Leonard VanOchten. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on November 8, 1947 in St. John’s Church. Sadly, Leonard preceded Marie in death in 1980. Marie was a dedicated and talented beautician and wanted it well known how appreciative of Carol Jasman she was for working with her for 21 years. Marie truly valued her loyal customers’ patronage and friendship through the years. She enjoyed playing BINGO, Euchre with the ladies, and was a member of L.C.B.A. since she was a child. Marie leaves to cherish her memory, her son: Larry (Betty) VanOchten and grandsons, Jeffrey (Desiree) VanOchten and Michael (Debbie) McKinnon; sister, Dottie Timm, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, Marie was welcomed home to heaven by her siblings: Josephine Jacobs, Leona (Joseph) Vink, Margaret (Edward) Corrion, Ruth (Dykes) Stachowski, Ed (Louise) Debo, Bill (Cecila) Debo, Art (Pearl) Debo, Louie (Lila) Debo, and Aloysius (Mildred) Debo, along with many in-laws. Marie’s family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 9:00 AM until Marie’s 10:00 AM Funeral Liturgy at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), 614 Pine St., Essexville. Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate with the Rite of Committal to be held privately at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish. Marie's entire family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Bay Medical Care Facility for their compassionate care.
