Obituary of Sheri Rose DePrekel
Sheri Rose DePrekel, 57, of Cement City, formerly of Fairgrove, our loving, sometimes feisty, and most devoted mom, companion, Grammie, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and friend was born into eternal life unexpectedly on the morning of Friday, December 15, 2017 at St. Mary’s of Michigan in Saginaw. Sheri was born in Bay City on May 9, 1960, the daughter of Donald and Rose-Lee (Raymaker) Faustin. She was a 1978 graduate of Akron-Fairgrove High School and went on to attend Delta College. At her sister’s wedding, Sheri met Fred DePrekel. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on May 23, 1987. Their marriage was blessed with nearly 17 years and three children. Fred preceded Sheri in death on May 11, 2004. Known for her excellent work ethic, Sheri graduated from Delta College and was employed in medical support most recently at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital, and formerly at McLaren Bay Region, St. Mary’s, and Covenant. Her zest for life was unmatched and Sheri’s infectious laugh could light up the entire room. She cared about everyone, and had an unwavering love for her family. Known for playing slots on her tablet (always with the volume all the way up), Sheri also enjoyed trying her luck at Keno, motorcycle rides, spending time on Drummond Island, at the cabin on Lake LeAnn, fishing, reading, tubing, and always being the winner of the next round of Rummy. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends for generations to come. Sheri leaves to cherish her memory, her three children: Bobbi Jo (Amy) DePrekel, Genna DePrekel, Jared DePrekel; father, Donald Faustin; her companion, Mac “Brian” McGuire and his children, Joe McGuire, Ryann (Mike) Crawford, and Luke McGuire; grandchildren, Azlynne, a baby boy on the way, Carlee , Rylee, and Lucy; siblings, Laurie (Rachel) Johnson, AnnMarie (Tom) Eisengruber, and Donna (Frank) Willett; nieces and nephews, Jeremy (Tacy) Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Stephanie (Joe) Platzer, Nicholas Eisengruber, Erika (Kalvin Lewis) Eisengruber, great-nieces, Nataley and Kaisly Johnson, with another great-niece on the way; granddogs, Sampson and Carly Mae, along with many in-laws, aunts, uncles, great-nieces and nephews, and countless friends. In addition to her husband, Sheri was welcomed home to heaven by her mother in 2015. Sheri’s family will be present to receive visitors on Monday, December 18, 2017 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Vigil for Sheri at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. On Tuesday, December 19, 2017, Sheri will be taken to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), 614 Pine St., Essexville, where visiting will continue from 10:00 AM until the time of Sheri’s 11:00 AM Funeral Liturgy.
