Obituary of Crystal LaVerne Miller

Crystal Miller, 91, of Bay City, our humorous, compassionate, and intelligent mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed gently into the Lord’s hands on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the Toni & Trish House. Crystal was born in St. Louis on January 21, 1926, the daughter of the late Herbert and Hazel (Radway) Smith. She was a 1944 graduate of Flint Central High School. Always one with a strong work ethic, Crystal worked at Kresge’s from age 15 until graduating high school. She then worked for Krasner Jewelers as a bookkeeper. Crystal went on to own Dyna Café and Dyna Freeze in Harrisville and then Flavor King in Bay City. While she was working for Kirk Realty, Crystal graduated from the University of Michigan with her realtor and broker licenses and went on to own and operate Crystal Realty in Bay City. She later worked at Sears, where she achieved top sales. Crystal enjoyed staying active swimming at the “Y” for 27 years, clog and line dancing for 26 years, and entertaining others with her quick wit and excellent sense of humor. She always attributed her success to following "The Golden Rule." Crystal's warm smile and gleam in her eye could light up the entire room; her loving ways will live on for generations to come. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Gerald (Jill) Flewelling of Fenton, Jackie (John) Beebe of Standish, Darla Flewelling of Essexville, and Glenda (Bill) Suttle of Burton; step-children, Lon (Karen) Miller of Colorado, Michael (Patricia) Miller of Mexico, and Mina Miller of London; brothers, William (Hazel) Smith and James (Sally) Smith; special cousin and friend, Ted Davis, along with her much loved grandchildren, great, and great-great grandchildren, and more friends than you could count (she loved you all). In addition to her parents, Crystal was welcomed home to heaven by her husband, Charles “Chuck” Miller, former husband, Jack Flewelling; children, Hugh, Rita, and Brenda; sisters, Evelyn (Gene) Finch and Eleanor Smith. Crystal’s family will be present to receive visitors on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 12:00 Noon until the time of Crystal’s 2:00 PM Life Celebration at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. A reception and cocktail hour will follow in The Wesley Room at Skorupski’s. Private interment will be held in Heavenly Rest Cemetery, Kawkawlin. The entire family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the team at the Toni & Trish House for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Toni & Trish House. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
