Obituary of Robert Lloyd "Bob" Van Idour
Robert Lloyd “Bob” Van Idour, 52, of Bay City, our loving, fun, caring, and family-oriented husband, father, Papa, brother, uncle, and friend passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, peacefully at home. Bob was born in Bay City on February 4, 1965, to the late Charles and Katherine (Garrod) Van Idour. Bob graduated from T.L. Handy High School, class of 1983. While standing in a friend’s wedding, the sister of the bride, the former Deborah Anthony, caught Bob’s eye. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on March 27, 1987. Together they shared 30 years of marriage and three wonderful children, whom he was always extremely proud of. Bob was a control technician at S.C. Johnson for over 20 years. He loved vacationing to tropical places, especially Mexico. Bob also enjoyed playing cards, slots, and loved going to the casino; he was known by name at Saganing Casino in Standish. Bob was known for his love to BBQ and smoke meat; he was always making sure nobody went hungry. He was a big fan of the Detroit Lions, loved the Christmas holiday, and had a true love of classic rock music, even running sound and managing for Alan’s Band. His love for his family, his children, and his best friend, his “Boo Boo” (grandson) Jackson, was unmatched. He will be missed dearly but will continue to fly high and “Rock On”. Bob leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 30 years, Debbie; their three children, Alan (Aleah Peterson) Van Idour, Whitney (Jeff Wenglikowski) Van Idour, and Kayla (Stephen Buckbee) Van Idour. He was the awesome Papa Bob of Jackson. Loving brother to Cheryl (Larry) Finn and Julie Morrison; in-laws, Jody (Jeff) Case, Tammy (David) Ruiz, Dan (Andrea VanTol) Anthony, and Cindy Radzwilowcz. Along with many nieces, nephews, friends, and his beloved dogs, Maya and Kittie. In addition to his parents, Bob was welcomed home to heaven by his brother, Larry Van Idour; baby sister, Kathy Marie Van Idour; brother-in-law, John Morrison, and nephew, James Goodnight Jr. Bob’s family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with 6:00 PM Celebration of Life Cocktail Hour at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N.
