Obituary of Harold "Sonny" Lewandowski

Harold “Sonny” Lewandowski, 79, of Hampton Twp., our funny and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend went home to heaven on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at McLaren Bay Region. Sonny was born in Saginaw on August 3, 1938, to the late Harold and Hannah (Alles) Lewandowski. Sonny graduated high school and went on to work at General Motors, where he retired after 36 years. Sonny enjoyed to dance; while dancing, he met the former Sandra Short. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage – celebrating 52 years together. Together, Sonny and Sandy opened and ran “Sandy’s Pizza” on Farragut in Bay City for 18 years. He proudly sponsored a softball team for “Sandy’s Pizza” for many years and never missed a game. Sonny enjoyed bowling, shuffleboard, and being with his children, grandchildren, and buddies. He had a real zest for life and could always make people laugh. His favorite phrase was, “Live for today and piss on tomorrow.” Sonny leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Sandy; their four children, Ed Lewandowski (Nikki Foldie), Kim Kelly, Brian (J.J.) Lewandowski, and Mark (Kelli) Lewandowski; 12 wonderful grandchildren, Danielle Sova, Chanse Meylan, Madison, Kiley, Andon, Payton, Skylar, Kenzi, Addison, and Zach Lewandowski, Ciara and Emma Kelly; sister, Pat Chislea; brother, Gary (Cheryl) Lewandowski; brother-in-law, Bernie Hebert; former son-in-law, Jeff Kelly; sisters-in-law, Donna (John) Groya, Bonnie (Bill) Kasper, and Carol (Rollie) Paeth, along with several close nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Sonny was welcomed home to heaven by his sister, Gail Hebert, and nephew, Tim Chislea. Per Sonny’s request, cremation has taken place. Sonny’s family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 4:30 PM until the time of his 7:00 PM Celebration of Life at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N.
