Obituary of Ruth E. Bennetts
Ruth E. Bennetts, 85, of Essexville, our strong, loving, and devoted mother and grandmother was born into eternal life on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Masonic Pathways in Alma. Ruth was born in Gaines on January 23, 1932, the daughter of the late Daniel and Alma (Brown) Dolehanty. Growing up, Ruth was the youngest of ten children and enjoyed farm life. She graduated from Bay City Central and was united in marriage to Donald Bennetts on September 11, 1954. Throughout life, Ruth made lifelong friends, especially during her job working the jewelry and glass counter at Kresge's. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist), where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and CCD teacher, and enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Ruth belonged to TOPS, Chapter 737 for over forty years and in her younger years was a den mother for Boy Scouts. She leaves to cherish her memory, her three children: Robert Bennetts, Mary (Jay) Harris, and Susan Bennetts. Her memory will remain alive in the hearts of her two granddaughters, Erin Harris and Sarah Harris; brother, Paul Dolehanty, along with many nieces, nephews, and church family at St. Jude’s. In addition to her parents, Ruth was welcomed home to heaven by her husband, Donald, and sisters, Thelma Brady, Helen Aurand, and brothers, Stephen, Max, Leo, Lawrence, Clement, and Harold Dolehanty. Ruth’s family will be present to receive visitors on Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 10:00 AM until the time of Ruth’s 11:00 AM Funeral Liturgy at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), 614 Pine St., Essexville. Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate with the Rite of Committal to be held privately in Floral Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish.
