Obituary of Jane Clara Vermeesch
Jane Clara Vermeesch, 65, of Bay City, our loving, generous, sociable, kind, and forgiving wife, mom, Nana, sister, aunt, and friend was born into eternal life on the morning of Thursday, April 27, 2017 at McLaren Bay Region after a courageous nine year battle with leukemia. Jane was born in Bay City on October 2, 1951, the daughter of the late Ralph and Edna (Majeska) Van Wert. Jane graduated with the Class of 1969 from Garber High School. Through close connections, she met Larry Thomas Vermeesch. Larry knew instantly he would eventually marry Jane. As time went by, Larry’s senior prom date backed out, and Jane stepped in. While Larry was in the service, Jane would write to him frequently. As fate would have it, Jane needed a ride to work when Larry returned home. They eventually dated and fell in love. Due to the marriage licenses being published, the parents found out of their plan to elope. Jane and Larry were united in marriage on September 1, 1971 in St. Joseph Church. Jane spent the majority of her career in the banking and financial industry, where she often was the Vice President of lending. She worked at Sunrise Credit Union for 17 years, Chemical Bank for over 18 years, and Michigan National for 7 years. Jane loved traveling and camping, especially to Traverse City. Golfing was a wonderful passion of Jane’s, as was going to the casinos and Las Vegas. Jane was a member of the Bay City Jaycees and was active in Junior Achievement. She always saw the goodness in every situation and person, and will be deeply missed, but lovingly remembered for years to come. Jane leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Larry and their children: Amie (Russell IV) Heeke and Thomas (Ann) Vermeesch. She was the most loving and supportive Nana of Jarren, Alexandria, Jessica, and Russell V. Jane’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her siblings: Kathy (Jay) Hamlin, Barry (Sharlene) Van Wert, John (Pat) Van Wert, Greg (Cheryle) Van Wert; beloved dog and friend, Angel, along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Jane was welcomed home to heaven by her sister, Sue Michalski and many in-laws. Jane’s family will be present to receive visitors on Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Vigil for Jane at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N.
