Obituary of Lawrence "Gary" Cummings
Lawrence Garland “Gary” Cummings, 80, of Bay City, our generous and devoted husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend was born into eternal life on the evening of Friday, March 17, 2017 at Bay Medical Care Facility. Gary was born in Bay City on June 3, 1936, the son of the late Lawrence Garland Sr. and Gertrude (Hubble) Cummings. He grew up in the Thumb and was a graduate of Cass City High School. He continued his education at Central Michigan University, receiving his bachelor degree. Throughout life, Gary was known as a dedicated history and government teacher at John Glenn High School. He enjoyed golfing, spending time with his grandchildren, and pheasant hunting with his sons and friends. Gary was united in marriage to the former Ruth Seurynck, who is left to cherish his memory, along with their two sons Tim and his wife, Rose Cummings and Patrick Cummings. Gary also leaves behind his grandchildren, John (Charisse), Alan, Margaret, and Rebecca Cummings. He was the adoring great-grandpa of Tyler and Mason and will remain alive in the hearts of his sister, Karen Clara; sister-in-law, Janet Cummings, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Gary was welcomed home to heaven by his brother, Clark Cummings. Gary’s family will be present to receive visitors on Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 10:00 AM until the time of his 11:00 AM Tribute Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. A Celebration of Life Reception will follow at The Grand Banquet & Conference Center, 660 W. Hampton Rd., Hampton Twp.
