Obituary of Richard Allen Huntley

Richard Allen Huntley, 78, of Bay City, our loving, wonderful, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend went home to heaven on Monday, March 13, 2017, surrounded by the love of his life, his children, and those who loved him so very much. Richard was born in Bay City on September 17, 1938 to the late Fred and Agnes (Barnhart) Huntley. Richard attended Central High School, where he met the love of his life, the former, Judy Jacobs. They dated, fell in love and in 1957, they graduated together and married on November 9, 1957. Their love and dedication towards one another has stood the test of time, celebrating over 60 years of being together. Richard went on to work at Booth Newspapers for over 50 years; working at The Bay City Times, The Saginaw News, and Valley Publications. He was active in the Local Union 405 until its merger with Detroit Local N13, where he served as the Chapel Chairman for The Bay City Times and The Saginaw News for many years. Richard dedicated his life to the membership of the union and was a proud, lifetime Democrat. In his younger years, Richard loved playing football for Central High School and softball. He enjoyed woodworking, visiting with his neighbors, and watching the hummingbirds with his wife. Above all, Richard loved taking care of his yard and was very proud of it. He leaves to cherish his memory, the love of his life, Judy; three daughters, Sherry Szenay of Bay City, Cynthia (Craig) Bowen of Bay City, and Brenda (Brent) Rodammer of Freeland; one son, Richard (Crystal) Huntley Jr. of New Baltimore; grandchildren, Ashley (Terry) Girard, Adam Szenay, Katie (Nicholas) Loomis, Jessica Rodammer, Eric Rodammer, and Levi Huntley; great-grandchildren, Sean Szenay, Chase Girard, and Brylynn Girard; siblings, James Huntley of Traverse City, Betty Good of Bay City, and Joanne Tomsu of Omaha, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Mary Huntley, Sandra Schaller, and Carol (Robert) Schoof; longtime friends, Derek (Bo) Taylor and Mike Kowalczyk, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Richard was welcomed home to heaven by his siblings, Nancy Tacey, Janet Choka, Charles Huntley, Robert Huntley, and John Huntley. Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be sadly missed. Richard’s family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, March, 17, 2017 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Vigil for Richard at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N.
