Obituary of Christine Stagray

Christine Ella Stagray, 64, of Essexville, our loving and caring wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend was born into eternal life on the afternoon of Saturday, December 17, 2016 at her daughter's home. Christine was born in Saginaw on October 11, 1952, the daughter of the late Mark and Lorraine (Schaeding) Cheney, Jr. In January of 2004, Christine was united in marriage to Allan Stagray. Throughout life, she was known for her warm and friendly personality, touching countless lives as a school lunch lady with the Essexville-Hampton Schools. She was always there with a listening ear for many of the kids during her time working at Burger King. Christine enjoyed knitting, sewing, camping, scrapbooking, plants, playing cards with family, but above all, her grandchildren were the light of her life. Her love for her family and friends will live on for generations to come. Christine leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Allan and her children, Mark (Janelle) Cheney, James Ballard, William (Melynda) Schaefer, Jr., Dianne (Charlie) Yell; step-daughter, Rhonda Stagray-Thole; mother-in-law, Rita Stagray; grandchildren, Dylan (Kaitlyn) Cheney, Wesley (Sammantha) Cheely, Jaeden Schaefer, Justin Cheney, Zachary Cheney, Abbrey Yell, Charlie Yell, William Schaefer III, and Declan Schaefer; step-grandchildren, Riley and Peyton Thole; great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Maci, Anders, Addison, Bentley; siblings, Barbara (William) Griffin, Frank (Tina) Cheney, Melody (Robert) LaPlaunt, Randy Cheney, Rick (Dianne) Cheney, Yvonne VanSickle, Brenda Cheney and Kim Richardson, Diane Cheney; in-laws, Patricia Heinroth, Marcia (Bill) Savage, Randy (Janet) Stagray, Greg (Mickey) Stagray, Dave Stagray, and countless nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Christine was welcomed home to heaven by her sister, Nancy Walters; brother, John Cheney, and father-in-law, Harold Stagray. Christine's family will be present to receive visitors on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, December 21, 2016 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and again on Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 9:00 AM until the time of her 10:00 AM Tribute Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family.
