Obituary of June Wascher
June Maxine Wascher, 81, of Munger, our kind, strong-willed, and most loyal mother, Marna, sister, aunt, and friend was called home by our Lord & Savior on the evening of January 6, 2017 at Bay Medical Care Facility. June was born in Munger on June 3, 1935, the daughter of the late Floyd and Elsie (Lupcke) Roth. She was a graduate of Bay City Central and went on to write to a sailor in the U.S. Navy by the name of Virgil Wascher. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on July 23, 1955 at Trinity-St. James Lutheran Church in Munger. Sadly, after nearly sixty years of marriage, Virgil preceded June in death on June 14, 2015. June was known for her excellent green thumb and always kept a wonderful garden. Always leading by example, she was a devoted mother and an excellent grandmother role model. In her younger years, June helped her mother prepare school lunches and later worked at Bronner's for over 25 years after Virgil's retirement. Be it spending time in Hawaii, partaking in a hunting trip in Wyoming, or staying more local by fishing on the Saginaw Bay, June and Virgil were both known for their love of traveling. June had a heart of gold and will be deeply missed, but lovingly remembered for generations to come. June leaves to cherish her memory, her two sons: Craig and wife, Kathy Wascher and Brian and wife, Judy Wascher. She was the most supportive "Marna" and her legacy will live on with her grandchildren: Christopher and Kyle Wascher, Kaitlyn and husband, Calvin Hugo, Elizabeth and husband, Josh Taylor, Emily and husband, Kevin Spyker and Erica and husband, Mike Golden, who will all miss her cinnamon applesauce and spaghetti with sugar. She adored her great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Anna, Luke, Jacey, and Matthew and also leaves her brother, Louis and wife, Diane Roth; sister, Jan Dornbrock; sisters-in-law, Marla Harrington, Marilyn Yenior, Gloria Marden, Carol Penfold her beloved dog, Sammi and cat, Lucy, along with many nieces, nephews and countless friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, June was welcomed home to heaven by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roy and Evelyn (Gilmor) Wascher, and her brother-in-law, Ron Dornbrock. June's family will be present to receive visitors on Monday, January 9, 2017 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. On Tuesday, January 10, 2017, June will be taken to Trinity-St. James Lutheran Church, 119 E. Munger Rd., Munger, where visiting will continue from 10:00 AM until the time of her 11:00 AM Funeral Ceremony. Rev. Michael Stahl will officiate with private interment to be held in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family.
