Daniel Gatza, 87, of Essexville, our kind hearted, humorous, helpful, and outgoing father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend went home to heaven on the morning of Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at McLaren Bay Region. Dan was born in Bay City on May 31, 1930, to the late Casimer and Martha (Novakowski) Gatza. Dan served in the Army during the Korean War and went on to work at General Motors for over 40 years. On November 26, 1960, Daniel was united in marriage to the former Mary Ciszek, who sadly predeceased him on March 8, 2015. Dan was a member of the Knights of Columbus – St. Stephens Council 4102, the P.L.A.V. #162, the St. George Society, and a dedicated parishioner of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish. Dan enjoyed fishing, boating, electrical work, and above all being a grandpa. Dan leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Julie Dice, Randall Gatza, and Nancy (Chris) Martinez; grandchildren, Jordan and Jaylie Dice; brother, Eugene (Ann) Gatza; in-laws, Arthur (Barbara) Ciszek, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. A private ceremony was held at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. with entombment in St. Stanislaus Kostka Mausoleum.
